take a stroll down design laneway & discover the hidden gems of design, art & interiors.

Hello, its been a while since my last post.  Just so you know, I have something bigger & better in the works so I’m saving up my posts for this special something.  Cant wait to share it with you.  I’ll still be posting here but not as frequently.  Watch this space.. or rather, keep up to date on twitter https://twitter.com/designlaneway where I’ll be announcing my news there in about 4 weeks. Squeal! xx

They dont call it Incredible India for nothing.  Here is just a tiny glimpse of my journey to India.  The first 3 pics are obvious.. the Taj Mahal!  I’ve always dreamt of going & it really is just magical in person (even in 46 degree heat!)  Pic 4 is of Central Terminus in Mumbai.  The architecture is mix of gothic colonial, Hindi & Muslim.  Just amazing. The next two are of some beautiful doors & archways I came across.  India has just gorgeous antique doors & I love the way they design an archway.  Always such a entrance. The postcard & kitsch Bollywood poster I bought from Bombay Electric in Mumbai.  A really cool fashion & design store next to the Taj Palace hotel in Mumbai.  The last 2 pics are of the Hotel Oberoi Amarvilas. A flawless hotel with a mix of colonial & Indian design.  The view from our hotel room was the Taj Mahal.. not a bad view to wake up to!  I had an awesome time India. One I’ll cherish forever. xx

Finders Keepers market = YAY!!!  I get so excited when this bi-annual market of crafty delights is on. This time they moved the market to Redfern Technology Park to fit approx 3 times as many stalls. Win! I was like a kid in a candy store!  I didn’t know where to start, I was giddy with excitement.  To say I was impressed is an under statement. So many different creative ventures offering such unique & original designs.  I only managed to get 3 pics & then my battery died (tisk tisk), but here they are. Pic 1. Posy anyone?  How can you resist!  The Sweet Little Posy Shop. Pic 2. Love these fun & coloured cards from AHD Paper Co. Pic 3. I bought the mint coloured one porcelain dish. Sweet!  Check out the Finders Keepers site for all the Designers, Stores & Galleries - http://www.thefinderskeepers.com/

Yesterday I popped in to the Museum of Contemporary Art retail store down at Circular Quay.  They have some wonderful books on art & design.. plus some great home wares.  I bought these two Tom Dixon copper bowls & this Pantone Book.  Cant wait to get stuck in & flip through the pages.

Stumbled across this bird cage installation at Angel Place, Sydney today. xx

Last week I visited a delightful little pocket of homewares & interiors stores at the corner of Edgecliff Rd & Grosvenor Rd, Woollahra.

First stop was Mud Australia, with their handmade porcelain collection.  I just love the bold pops of colour.

Next stop was NoChintz Textiles. They stock so many gorgeous pattern fabrics.  They are wholesale & sell to the public, hoorah!

Then to Marshmellow, a gorgeous fashion & small homewares boutique.  Love the three skulls & wellies.  Very brit rock & roll.

Next door is Cotton Love. These industrial light fittings is just so up my alley.  I also have a soft spot for chandeliers. Oh boy, those are just fab.

Definitely worth checking out these stores. You wont be disappointed & I can guarantee you wont be able to resist a little present for yourself & your home. xx

Wall stickers are a fun & cheap way of decorating a space with art. These are some wall stickers I used to decorate the Big Bang & Fuzz office. You can even customise the dimensions to fit a space (like we did for the full wall covering piece) You can buy them online. I suggest whatisblik.com & pickawall.com

TOKYO Love. Some pics from my trip to Tokyo. Love the little cutie in her kimono. #tokyo #inspiration # #harajuku #japan #nature

LA times… Just some happy snaps I took on my recent trip to LA. xx

For a recent work trip I stayed at The London hotel in West Hollywood. What a fabulous hotel… and what divine decor! Hollywood glamour & pure class. I couldn’t resist taking some snaps.  I absolutely love the gold leather lounge seat.  What a statement piece. In the lobby they have these stunning mermaid blue velvet arc sofas, with gorgeous gold leather cushions. I’d steal it all in my luggage if I could. If your ever stopping by LA, I highly recommend you stay here. xx
